Last Bulls Game

Last Thursday evening, Mark, Eli, and myself ventured out to our last Bulls Game of the season. This was probably Eli's 4th game this year and we are having so much fun sharing the experience with him now that he's old enough to really enjoy it! We scored some great seats right behind the visitor's dugout on the 3rd base line and it just so happened that the Bulls were playing the Norfolk Tides that evening, which is the team we used to follow back when we lived in Virginia. So, naturally, I had to text my dad (who still lives in the Tidewater area) a "wish you were here" picture. The weather was absolutely perfect too, not too hot or humid. Made this preggo very happy!

Eli had a blast scarfing down some $1 goodies (hotdogs, popcorn, and fries) while cheering on the Bulls win of 3-2. He especially got into the "charge" cheer that the crowd would yell.

The game ended with a few high-fives from Wool-E-Bull (Eli loves him!) and a game-baseball that one of the Tides players tossed to us afterwards. Mark was slightly jealous of this, as he has still yet to get a game-ball. Oh and Eli insisted on sleeping with his baseball that night. He was obviously pretty excited about it!

It was a very late night for all of us but totally worth the memories made! Looking forward to cheering on the Bulls next season!

THE Toothpaste

Eli and I were shopping at Target recently and one of the items on our list was a new tube of kiddie toothpaste. I had a couple coupons to choose from, so I figured Eli would be able to pick pretty much any kind that he wanted. Read: He would be able to choose whichever cartoon character that struck his fancy, because we all know that it's the picture on the front that truly makes the toothpaste cool. Ha! Target did not disappoint. Surely he would select the Thomas or the Cars themed tube. However, that was NOT to be the case. He almost immediately chose the My Little Pony one. I tried to persuade him to pick something different but his mind was made up. My Little Pony it was. Eli is loving his new toothpaste and proudly tells Mark on a nightly basis how much he enjoys the the "Pinky Fruity Flavor." I, am secretly a bit jealous of his My Little Pony toothpaste. They never made that kind when I was a kid!

Randomness

Now that our summer is slowly winding down, we are returning to normal life with a LOT less traveling. Here is a quick peek into some of the things that have been going on...

Lots of singing in the car these days. (What he was doing in this pic.) Eli will hear the Newsboys song "God's Not Dead" and rock-out every time. Mommy gets a partial DC Talk fix listening to that song too, so I'm not complaining! You DC Talk fans know what I'm talking about!

Ice Cream for Dinner

Hanging out with Chaya--the other Blonde Puppy

If you look closely, you can see how I totally caught Chaya stealing Eli's cereal. Busted!

A little sand and water fun at the Lake

Chilling with the cousins

Pretending to be camera-shy

Celebrating National S'Mores Day (Daddy gets credit for this yumminess!)

Rocking some sweet morning bed-head...because we can! I think another haircut is in Eli's near future. Love our little Chia-Pet!

The Big One

This past Tuesday we were scheduled for our "Big Ultrasound" to find out who would be joining us around New Years. Eli was convinced to the very end that Mommy was growing a Baby Sister in her belly (he'd been saying this for months), Daddy held firm to his claim that he "only makes boys," and I wasn't verbally making any claims, but my heart was secretly hoping for a little girl this time around.

Well, the ultrasound tech had only brought up the image on the screen for not even a few seconds and my eyes detected our baby's boy-parts...very, very obviously boy parts. I will admit at this point Mark was beginning his celebration while I started to shed a few tears. I am so excited to meet our newest little boy but it also meant my dream to have a daughter was not to be this time around. Thankfully, baby boy looked absolutely perfect and growing right on track with our January 1st due date. We were able to get some beautiful 2D and 3D ultrasound shots this time around, since I was 19 weeks along and not 17 weeks like I ended up being with Eli.

Eli is very excited to meet his baby brother and has already stated he's going to teach him how to play various sports and share his toys with him too. (We'll see how truthful that second claim is about this time next year!) We are thrilled to meet our 2nd son later this year and now begins the fun of name-picking and nursery planning. We are blessed!

My sweet friend Cheryl and her adorable daughter Kennedy helped Eli make a card welcoming his new brother while we were at our appointment. Loved it!

Flowers from my boys to celebrate our Big Day! Eli kept telling me how they had picked them out special just for me. :-)

Beach Week #2 2012

This year's trip to Virginia Beach with my family was definitely different as we were missing quite a few family members but lots of fun was still to be had. Here's a rundown of what our week looked like:

There was a lot of swimming in the ocean

Plenty of "sand construction"

A few instances of shaved ice eating (Eli loved them!)

The boys had a morning of lighthouse exploration at the the Cape Henry Lighthouse while the girls shopped a bit. Eli wasn't tall enough to climb the actual lighthouse, so he helped Grandaddy clean-up litter around the area with his new bucket and shovel.

The grown-ups went to the midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises. I think we were the oldest ones there. Mark was very excited that we were able to keep this tradition alive, though!

Eli's first Japanese Steakhouse Experience

And his first major restaurant meltdown....NOT fun! Sorry, no pics of this one.

Many wonderful memories were made during our last beach vacation as a family of 3!

THE END
